The Eco Effect project came to life in part due to Lookin' Green Magazine's success as a print and online media company. Lookin Green is an environmental issues publication that began in 2004 as a blog written by Charlene Brown. Charlene moved to Hawai'i in 2010 for a better opportunity to study and practice sustainable living. As a new resident on the Big Island of Hawaii, Charlene Brown reached out to many organizations who were already working to achieve Hawai'i's energy independence.
From blog to book, and now to broadcast, Lookin Green is becoming one of the longest running resources for exploring environmental issues. Lookin Green is committed to a very low carbon impact with only 10,000 limited printed copies per edition. Our volume of readership is online with over 658,032 downloads per edition. Today Lookin' Green is a privately funded and published magazine on the Big Island of Hawai'i .
